THE People’s National Movement (PNM) will field new candidates in at least two constituencies: Laventille West, Laventille East/Morvant, and La Brea.
After screening at Balisier House on Monday, the PNM selected 12 incumbents to contest the next general elections due next year.
They are:
- Roger Monroe (Toco/Sangre Grande);
- Kennedy Richards (Point Fortin);
- Brian Manning (San Fernando East);
- Faris Al-Rawi (San Fernando West);
- Camille Robinson-Regis (Arouca Maloney);
- Foster Cummings (La Horquetta/Talparo);
- Nyan Gadsby-Dolly (St Ann’s East);
- Pennelope Beckles (Arima);
- Lisa Morris-Julien (D’Abadie O’Meara);
- Marvin Gonzales (La Horquetta/Bon Air West);
- Terrence Deyalsingh (St Joseph); and
- Esmond Forde (Tunapuna)
Attorney and alderman in the Port of Spain City Corporation Kareem Marcelle will contest Laventille West after National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds said he was not contesting.
Laventille East/Morvant Adrian Leone said was bowing out for personal reasons.
For La Brea MP Stephen McLashie and Brighton Vessigny councillor Jillon Lewis were screened, but the PNM reopened nominations for this constituency.
The deadline to submit nomination forms is 12 noon on December 20. Nominations were also opened for the Tobago East and Tobago West seats.
