100 Power Outages after Beryl

MORE than 100 reports of power outages took place on Monday. 

By late Monday evening, the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) was still working to restore electricity mainly in Tobago. 

This after the passage of Hurricane Beryl on Monday.

In a 6 pm update, the Commission said most of the outages were due to fallen poles and burst overhead lines. 

T&TEC stated based on an assessment at 12.30 pm in Tobago, lines will have to be repaired first.

“Crews will be working through the night to ensure that all customers are restored in the shortest possible time. Additional resources will be provided from Trinidad on the next available ferry.” 

As at 6 pm, 51 out of 102 reports were dealt with.

The outstanding reports are as follows:  

• Tobago – 35  

• East Trinidad – 9  

• Northwest Trinidad – 6  

• South Trinidad – 1
