THERE are ten new cases of the Covid-19 Delta variant in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday that the total number of Delta cases was now 86.
Out of 10 cases, nine vases had no travel history, eight had prior contact with other positive cases, two are fully vaccinated and seven cases are unvaccinated.
The presence of the Delta variant was confirmed via gene sequencing at the laboratory of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of the West Indies.
All patients have been placed in isolation until the enhanced discharged criteria for persons with Covid-19 Variants of Concern is achieved.
Contact tracing, testing and quarantining of contacts have also been initiated.
