TWO men are arrested and more than $10 million worth of marijuana and cocaine were seized in Point Fortin on Wednesday.
A release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated that it was an intelligence-led operation coordinated in collaboration with Northern Division officers.
It stated that in January 2024, the TTPS received information on the activities of a drug trafficking network, they gathered intelligence and conducted investigations, which led to an operation conducted on.
The officers identified a key suspect and two locations in the Pt Fortin area where the illegal items were suspected to be stashed.
The team then executed search warrants at two locations. At an apartment on Cap de Ville, officers seized:
– 262 grammes of powdered cocaine, valued at approximately $365,207.04
– 421 grammes of crack cocaine, valued at $195,613.44
-93.64 kilogrammes of high-grade Colombian cannabis, valued at
$10,276,709.08
Additionally, officers seized a magazine containing 15 rounds of 9-mm ammunition at a residence located on Pundit Street, Point Fortin.
The total estimated street value of the narcotics seized is $10,837,529.56. Two women were arrested during the operation.
