ONE PERCENT of the population of Trinidad and Tobago is currently Covid-19 positive.
This was revealed in the latest Covid-19 update (#935) of the Ministry of Health on Saturday.
It stated that there were 14,184 active Covid-19 cases in the country. T&T has a population of 1.4 million and since the pandemic started last year more than 80,000 people have also tested positive for the coronavirus.
There were also 949 active cases in Tobago.
The ministry in its release stated that 22 more people died on Saturday.
It also reported 812 new positive cases taken from samples during the period December 8 to December 10.
The 22 deaths included:
- 8 elderly men;
- 4 elderly women;
- 3 middle-aged men; and
- 7 middle-aged women
The ministry also reported that of the 22 who died, 13 of them had multiple comorbidities, six had one and three none.
