ONE man was arrested and four firearms and quantities of ammunition seized by officers during anti crime exercises in the Eastern and Port of Spain Divisions on Wednesday.
Officers of the Eastern Division Gang Intelligence Unit conducted an exercise between 11 am and 6 pm, on Wednesday during which they proceeded to a forested area in the Balandra district.
There, they conducted a search which resulted in the discovery of a black garbage bag containing an AR-15 rifle loaded with a magazine and one pistol loaded with a magazine containing eight rounds of ammunition.
Meanwhile, an exercise was conducted in the Matura district between 11 pm on Wednesday and 2 am on Thursday which resulted in the seizure of one homemade shot gun and two 12-gauge cartridges, from an abandoned car.
The exercises were coordinated by ACP Hazel, Snr Supt Guy- Alleyne, ASP Pitt and acting Insp Harper and assisted by officers of the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department.
In the Port of Spain Division, Task Force officers conducted mobile patrols in the district between 1 pm and 6.30 pm on Wednesday.
During one such patrol, officers stopped and searched a black Mazda CX3 motor vehicle which resulted in one firearm, twoextended magazines and a quantity of ammunition being seized.
A 40-year-old male suspect was arrested in connection with the finds.
