TT Records its 400th Murder for 2019

TRINIDAD and Tobago has recorded its 400th murder for 2019 with the killing of Curtly “Conehead” Calder in St James on Friday.

Calder, 30, of Upper Bournes Road, St James, was fatally shot around 9.20 p.m. on Friday near Twin’s Bar. He lives close to the bar.

Police said Calder was liming with friends when a vehicle drove by the area, and opened fire on the group.

Calder, and 40-year-old Nickel De Mills, of Nizam Street, St James, were shot several times.

The two men were taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where De Mills is warded after suffering bullet wounds to his right hand and abdomen.

Records show that the same number of people were killed during the same period last year which recorded 516 murders in total.

In 2008, the country recorded it most number of murders – 550.
