Retired Policeman Shoots Bandits During Bar Robbery

SAN FERNANDO – A retired police officer, who owns a bar in San Fernando, shoots two bandits who came to rob patrons on Wednesday.

One died on the scene while the other, who escaped, was shot in his leg.

Reports indicate that the two men entered Marshall’s Bar at the corner of Cipero and Sutton Streets in San Fernando around 11.30 a.m.

The men declared a hold-up and told customers to hand over their jewellery. The retried superintendent of police told the men to drop their weapons.

Police said that the men refused and the retired officer shot them after they pointed their guns at him.

The man who was killed died near the bar while the other who was bleeding escaped in a waiting car, police said.
