Attorney Keisha Butcher Dies after Long Battle with Breats Cancer

ATTORNEY Keisha Butcherhas passed away on Wednesday after a long battle with breast cancer.

She was the daughter of Kenneth Butcher, a broadcaster and former parliamentary secretary in the Ministry of Sport.

Keisha was an attorney for 15 years and a past pupil of St Joseph’s Convent, St Joseph.

She was the first Trinidadian to have achieved the Blackstone’s World Prize from the University of London for her first year in law and went on to read for a Master’s Degree in Corporate and Commercial Law at UWI, all while raising her daughter, according to a post on the St Joseph Convent, St Joseph, Past Pupils’ Association.

The post noted, “Her leadership skills and competitive drive were honed during her years at SJC, when she served as House Captain for Maria Goretti and represented the school in netball and track and field.

It added, “ Over the years Keisha served on the Board of a Charitable institution assisting underprivileged kids and serving in depressed areas.

“Keisha is also an artist having studied under Ms A Howard (Garcia) at SJC. She held her first solo exhibition in 2017 called the Melting Pot, and featured some of her daughter’s pieces as well.

“As a cancer fighter she promotes cancer awareness and a lifestyle of regular checkups as the only way to #confirmyouarecancerfree.

“She lives one step at a time and has found that by taking life in small bites she is able to overcome the challenges and savour the beauty of this precious gift.
