3 Girls Hospitalised After Taking Stolen Medicine

BELMONT – Three girls who ingested medication they stole from the St Jude’s Home for Girls in Belmont, Port-of-Spain, had to be rushed to hospital.

The girls are now warded at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital and range in ages from 13 to 14 were staying at the institution.

The incident was revealed by Minister in the Office of the Attorney General Fitzgerald Hinds speaking at a political meeting in Carenage on Sunday.

Hinds said the girls stole the medication in an effort to get high.

He said another three girls also ran away from the same institution recently.

Hinds said, “They jumped the wall and out they go. And of course as soon as they get in­to cer­tain ar­eas those who are wait­ing for those op­por­tu­ni­ties like vul­tures, cap­tured them and all kinds of sor­did things en­sued.”
